Ruth Brown (1919–2006) was a prominent British illustrator and author, recognized for her contributions to children's and young adult literature. She was born in Surrey, England, and studied at the Croydon School of Art. Her style is characterized by detailed and expressive illustrations, combining traditional techniques with a modern sensibility.

Throughout her career, Ruth Brown illustrated numerous children's books, many of which received awards and accolades, such as the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1961 for When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit by Judith Kerr.
