Synopsis "A Little Princess (Royal Collector's Edition) (Case Laminate Hardcover with Jacket)"

A Little Princess tells the story of Sara Crewe, a kind and imaginative girl raised in India by her doting father. Enrolled in a London boarding school, she is thrust from luxury to poverty when her father dies penniless. Despite her hardships, Sara's grace and generosity endure, earning her the title of a 'princess' among her peers. Her fortunes take a mysterious turn when a neighbor, Mr. Carrisford, who was her father's business partner, seeks to rectify past wrongs.A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett, expands upon her serialized story "Sara Crewe." It became a children's classic for its fairy tale qualities, vivid characters, and dramatic plot. Celebrated by the National Education Association as a top book for children, Burnett's novel has influenced the genre with its themes of resilience and kindness. The story, embodying the hardships and eventual triumph of young Sara Crewe, remains a poignant example of storytelling that combines reality with the enchantment of fairy tales. This case laminate collector's edition includes a Victorian inspired dust-jacket.

Frances H. Burnett (1849, Manchester, England - 1924, Plandome, United States) lost her father when she was just five years old. The family had to endure economic hardships and in 1865 moved to the United States. Eight years later Frances got married, but she had already managed to publish in some American magazines like Godey’s Lady’s Book, Godey’s, Peterson’s Ladies’ Magazine, Scribner’s Monthly, and Harper’s. She was 28 years old when That Lass O’ Lowrie’s (1877), her first novel, appeared. However, it was Little Lord Fauntleroy (1886) that contributed the most to her popularity during her lifetime. It was aimed, along with Sara Crewe (1888) and The Secret Garden (1911), at the young reader. The latter is considered her most valuable contribution.
