Joan-Carles Mèlich (Barcelona, 1961) holds a PhD in Philosophy and Letters from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He currently serves as a full professor of Philosophy of Education at the same university. He has published, among other titles, Philosophy of Finitude (2002), Ethics of Compassion (2010), and Logic of Cruelty (2014). The Stage of Existence brilliantly culminates a cycle of narrative philosophy initiated with The Wisdom of Uncertainty (Tusquets Editores, 2019), a work followed in this same collection by The Fragility of the World, awarded the National Essay Prize 2022.
