Born in Mexico City in 1964. Studied Human Sciences at the Claustro de Sor Juana and Classical Letters at UNAM. With his first novel, "El Disco del Tiempo", he won the Barco de Vapor Award 2004, granted by Ediciones SM and CONACULTA. His poetry collection "Tigres de la Otra Noche" received the Hispano-American Poetry Prize for Children 2005, awarded by the Foundation for Mexican Letters and the Economic Culture Fund. With the novel "Querida Alejandría" he won the Latin American Prize for Children and Youth Literature Norma Fundalectura 2007. His novel "Dido para Eneas" was chosen by IBBY to be part of the Honor List 2016 in the category of best story for young people and with "El velo de Helena" he obtained the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award 2020. He has written more than 70 titles, among which stand out "Atenas siempre", "Copo de Algodón", "El anillo de César", "El remo de Odiseo", "La tumba de Alejandro", "El país de las pirámides". The most recent are "El velo de Helena", "Historias de la Atlántida", "Jerónimo y los Siete Sabios" and the series of Dictionaries of Classic Myths, of America and of Asia. His books have been published in Mexico, Spain, Cuba, Ecuador, the United States, and Colombia.
