Disruption. Bringing the Kingdom the Way Jesus Did
John Wallace (Author) · Independently published · Paperback
Disruption
Disruption is what Jesus did for me and does today, just like He did when He physically came to earth.
Disruption is what Jesus caused when He brought the Kingdom of God to earth. In the first chapter of the gospel of Mark, the rapid-fire, action-packed gospel (the word "immediately" is used 40 times, with that word occurring 10 times in the first chapter), it is written:
"Now, after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, '
The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.'" (Mark 1:14-15)
In bringing the Kingdom of God, Jesus was inviting people to enter it by "repenting" or changing their minds, which then caused a "turnaround" in their goals, desires, actions, and many of their beliefs. Most importantly, their repentance transformed their relationship with God. Jesus came to disrupt and change a whole way of living. His life and message were about relational thinking and relational living. He came to disrupt the way people thought and acted about gender separation and racial division. He came to disrupt the way people treated each other. He came to disrupt the religious mindset of the day. He came to challenge the teaching and practice of both those within the Jewish community and those without. Jesus was a disruption to the status quo and still is! This book is a call to be disrupted and follow the disruptive pattern of the Kingdom established by Jesus Christ. Welcome to the disruption!
