Pablo Latapí Sarre (Mexico City, April 19, 1927 – August 4, 2009) was a Mexican philosopher and educator, a pioneer in educational research in his country. He earned a PhD in Philosophy with a specialization in Educational Sciences from the University of Hamburg, Germany, and founded the Center for Educational Studies (CEE) in 1963, which he directed for a decade. His interdisciplinary approach and commitment to social justice deeply influenced the development of Mexican educational policy for over 40 years. He was a member of the National System of Researchers and received honorary doctorates from various Mexican universities.
Among his most notable works are La SEP por dentro (2008), Un siglo de educación en México (1998), La investigación educativa en México (1994), El debate sobre los valores en la escuela mexicana (2004), and Andante con brío (2008). These publications, focused on education and educational policies, have been fundamental in understanding and improving the educational system in Mexico. His legacy continues in the training of researchers and in promoting equitable and quality education.
