Synopsis "El Gato que Decía Adiós / the Goodbye cat (in Spanish)"

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION In the much-anticipated follow-up to the bestselling and beloved The Travelling Cat Chronicles, seven cats weave their way through their owners' lives, climbing, comforting, nestling, and sometimes just tripping everyone up in this uplifting collection of tales by international bestselling author Hiro Arikawa. Against the backdrop of changing seasons in Japan, we meet Spin, a kitten rescued from the recycling bin, whose playful nature and simple needs teach an anxious father how to parent his own human baby; a colony of wild cats on a popular holiday island show a young boy not to stand in nature's way; a family is perplexed by their cat's undying devotion to their charismatic but uncaring father; a woman curses how her cat will not stop visiting her at night; and an elderly cat hatches a plan to pass into the next world as a spirit so that he and his owner may be in each other's lives forever. Bursting with love and warmth, The Goodbye Cat exquisitely explores the cycle of life, from birth to death--as each of the seven stories explores how, in different ways, the steadiness and devotion of a well-loved cat never lets us down. A huge bestseller in Japan, this magical book is a joyous celebration of the wondrousness of cats and why we choose to share our lives with them.

Hiro Arikawa, (in Japanese: 有川 浩; Kōchi, June 9, 1972) is a Japanese writer of light novels or ranobe, that is, pulp literature.
She won the tenth annual Dengeki Novel Prize for new writers with Shio no Machi in 2003, which was published the following year. It is a love story between a heroine and a hero separated by age and social position in a Japanese military setting. Her subsequent titles have been incorporated into more prestigious literature. She achieved great success with Toshokan Sensō / Library War (2006), a dystopia in which, inspired by Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, she imagines a Japanese society divided and confronted over issues of tolerance to censorship and freedom of speech; it was the first novel in a series on this theme, Toshokan Sensō, and won the Seiun Award in 2008.

She often writes about the Japan Self-Defense Forces and her first three novels about them formed a trilogy called Jieitai Sanbusaku / The Self-Defense Forces Trilogy.

Her work has been widely adapted into manga, television, and film, and Chronicles of a Traveling Cat / 旅猫リポート, has been translated into five languages, including Spanish, with the title A cuerpo de gato (2017). It is the autobiography of a cat in the first person.
