Carlos H. Aquino was born in the Piedras Blancas neighborhood, in Montevideo (Uruguay), on June 17, 1972.

Son of an air force military officer and a textile worker, he grew up in a family where political debates and books were part of everyday life.

From a young age, he got involved in political activism and student unions, and also began to write.

Throughout his life in Uruguay, he was a militant of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), a political party part of the coalition of center-left and left-wing parties called Broad Front.

At the age of seventeen, he emigrated for the first time and settled in Buenos Aires, and it is in the Argentine capital, where he first ventured into the media, working at different radio stations as a speaker, host, and journalist.

After five years, he returned to Montevideo with the idea of settling permanently in the Uruguayan capital.

During the year 1995, he actively participated in the student movement against an education reform that intended, among other negative aspects, to impose drastic budget cuts on public education, a reform known as the "Pilot Plan" and went down in history as the "Rama Reform," since it was promoted by the director of the Central Governing Council (CODICEN) Germán Rama, a member of the government team of then-president Dr. Julio María Sanguinetti.

In 2002, during the government of Dr. Jorge Batlle, a deep economic crisis led him to emigrate once again.

Since that year, he has been living in the state of Florida (United States), where he resides to this day.

Carlos Aquino is married to Daniela Villanueva (Aquino), and has two sons, Nicolás Emanuel and Juan Pablo.
