Munro Leaf (1905-1976) was an American writer and illustrator of children's literature. He was born in Hamilton, Maryland, and graduated in 1927 from the University of Maryland, earning a master's degree in English literature from Harvard University in 1931. During his 40-year career, he wrote and illustrated about 40 books.

His most notable work is "The Story of Ferdinand" (1936), which tells the life of a bull who prefers smelling flowers over participating in bullfights. This book was considered subversive at the time, being banned in Francoist Spain and burned in Nazi Germany. Leaf also collaborated with illustrator Robert Lawson on books such as "Wee Gillis" (1937) and "Aesop's Fables" (1941). His work has been internationally recognized, and "The Story of Ferdinand" was adapted into an animated short by Disney in 1938.

Gracias
