Synopsis "Handbook of the Birds of the World. Volume 10: Cuckoo-shrikes to Thrushes"

Josep del Hoyo i Calduch (Barcelona, June 22, 1954) is a Spanish doctor, ornithologist, and publisher known for his contribution to the global dissemination of ornithology. After graduating in medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1977, he worked as a rural doctor and participated in television outreach programs. His passion for birds led him to found Lynx Edicions in 1989, dedicated to publishing works on nature.

Among his most notable works is "Handbook of the Birds of the World" (1992-2013), a 17-volume encyclopedia that describes and illustrates all bird species in the world. He has also co-edited "Handbook of the Mammals of the World" (2009-2019), focusing on mammals. For his work in spreading knowledge about biodiversity, he has received awards such as the BBVA Foundation Award for Biodiversity Conservation in 2010.
