Este libro reúne las obras de la exposición “La Extraña”, exhibida en el Museo de Arte y Artesanía de Linares (15/11/2024 - 17/01/2025). Incluye tres araucarias de hielo en miniatura (“La Extraña Vol. II-III-IV”, 2024), dos video instalaciones (“Testigo” y “Resistencia”, 2024) y una obra gráfica (“Araucaria Negra”, 2023).
La serie utiliza el hielo generado a partir de la humedad ambiental, obtenido gracias a la sublimación inversa. Así, “La Extraña” permite observar, tocar y reflexionar sobre el acceso, a una de las pocas aguas que se encuentran libres de la privatización en Chile. También incluye dos textos: el primero “Pálida, centelleante, entumecida: el día en que la humedad se convirtió en hielo” de la curadora Vania Montgomery y; el segundo “Fluido y soplo” del investigador y académico Cristián Gómez-Moya.
“La Extraña” es una exposición basada en una obra anterior, consistente en una araucaria de hielo tamaño natural, ubicada sobre dos toneladas de carbón vegetal. Esta obra llamada “La Extraña“ fue expuesta en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Santiago, en Chile entre el 3 de noviembre de 2023 y el 21 de enero de 2024.
This book compiles the works from the exhibition “La Extraña” (The Outsider), showcased at the Museum of Art and Craft of Linares (11/15/2024 - 01/17/2025). It includes three miniature ice araucarias (“La Extraña Vol. II-III-IV”, 2024), two video installations (“Testigo” and “Resistencia”, 2024), and a graphic artwork (“Araucaria Negra”, 2023).
The series uses ice formed from atmospheric humidity, obtained through reverse sublimation. “La Extraña” (The Outsider) invites viewers to observe, touch, and reflect on access to one of the few sources of water in Chile that remains free from privatization. It also includes two texts: the first “Pálida, centelleante, entumecida: el día en que la humedad se convirtió en hielo” (“Pale, sparkling, numb: when moisture turned to ice”) by curator Vania Montgomery and the second “Fluido y Soplo” (“Fluid and Blow”) by researcher and academic Cristián Gómez-Moya.
“La Extraña” (The Outsider) is an exhibition based on a previous work consisting of a life-size Araucaria tree made of ice, placed on two tons of charcoal.
