Jay Sandoval (Mixco, Guatemala, 2001) is a Guatemalan writer noted for his inclusive and authentic approach to youth literature. From an early age, he showed an interest in the arts: he learned to play the violin at eight years old and enrolled in the National Conservatory of Music of Guatemala at thirteen. Simultaneously, he began writing stories, essays, and journalistic texts, publishing his first works in youth newspapers and national digital magazines.

In 2019, Sandoval began publishing his novel The Kim Theory on the Wattpad platform, where he quickly gained popularity, accumulating more than 19 million reads. The work, which mixes science fiction, time travel, and elements of 80s pop culture, was later published by Editorial Planeta in physical and digital formats, consolidating his success.

Besides his literary career, Sandoval is a student of Pedagogy specializing in Human Rights at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala. His goal is to create safe spaces through his stories, where readers can feel identified and free.

His work has been recognized for its ability to connect with young audiences and for addressing themes of inclusion and self-discovery.
