Momma Meli the island's Manbo, a voodoo priestess of renown, offers a solution to Jason's dilemma: for a price. The vengeance demanded by the Manbo threatens to embroil Jason in inter-island conflict with a powerful voodoo priest who revels in his reputation for violence and cruelty. Wanting to avoid direct conflict where he has no stake and much to lose, Jason walks away intent on implementing his own solution. International crime gangs, local criminals and the powerful voodoo priest become an increasing threat which Gilgamesh refuses to back away from.
