Alaitz Leceaga was born in Bilbao in 1982. She is the author of the bestselling novels The Forest Knows Your Name (2018) and The Daughters of the Earth (2019).
She was acclaimed as the breakthrough author of the year 2018 with her literary debut, The Forest Knows Your Name, which has been translated into several languages and whose audiovisual rights are in development. This novel made her a finalist for the El Ojo Crítico de RNE Narrative Award in 2018 and the winner of the Vizcaya Booksellers Association Award in 2019.
With her third novel, Where the Sea Ends, she won the Fernando Lara Novel Award 2021.

Bueno después de una semana atorada con el libro, lo terminé y vaya sorpresa me dio, tiene una historia oscura, bien redactada que con el avanzar de ella te atrapa pero al mismo tiempo te demuestra lo cruda que era la vida de las mujeres de antaño. Tiene muchas cosas que no me gustaron para nada, pero no puedo juzgar una historia de finales del 1800 con los ojos de alguien de 2021. ° Gloria es la mayor de tres hermanas, todas pelirrojas y endemoniadas o eso es lo que han oído toda su vida, creció bajo la influencia de un padre frío cual hielo y la tía Angélica, (que sólo tiene de ángel el nombre) sufrió constantes castigos y abusos por parte de su tía y "hermano" (que tipo más repelente, en serio si no existiera, su vida hubiera sido mejor), pues siempre tuvo dentro de ella un "demonio" que la empujaba a alzar la voz, a desobedecer y eso para la época no era lo "correcto para una mujer". ° Gloria tiene una de las evoluciones como personaje que más me han gustado, pues pasa de ser una chica sumisa, controlada y que hacía siempre lo que se esperaba de ella, a liberar su verdadero ser, una mujer decidida, de armas a tomar
