Lectoras es un diario, un cuaderno de bocetos, de notas aisladas y es, al mismo tiempo, el recorrido de una artista hacia su primera muestra individual en la que retrata a veintidós mujeres leyendo y pinta, por primera vez, su autorretrato.
La autora se pregunta por qué lee y se responde a través de la pintura: pinta mujeres que leen, quiere encontrar en ellas alguna respuesta o tal vez solo quiere ver cómo otras personas miran el mundo.
Milagros Pochat pinta para conocer a los demás, pero en realidad, y quizá por primera vez, se deja mirar. Como ella misma dice: “La belleza es una mirada que insiste”. Por eso, donde antes borraba, donde antes cubría los lienzos con gesso blanco, ahora descubre que “a veces no es necesario comenzar desde cero”. Natalia Rozenblum
