Behold the selfsame thing, you sorrowed after a Godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yes, what clearing of yourselves, yes, what indignation, yes, what fear, yes, what vehement desire, yes what zeal, yes what revenge! In all things you have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. Though I wrote unto you. I did it not for his cause that had done wrong nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that my care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you. For if I boasted anything to him of you I am not ashamed but I speak all things to you in truth even so of my boasting, which I did for you, is found in truth; and in his inward affection is more abundant toward you. While he remembered the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him. Therefore I rejoice that I have confidence in you in all things.
