Joaquín O. Giannuzzi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1924. He worked in journalism, published literary critiques in the newspapers Crítica, Crónica, Clarín, and La Nación. In 1962, he began collaborating with the magazine Sur, directed by Victoria Ocampo. In 1958, he published Nuestros días mortales, for which he received the award from the Argentine Writers Society. He followed this with Contemporáneo del mundo (1962), Las condiciones de la época (1967), and Señales de una causa personal (1977). In the eighties, he published: Principios de incertidumbre; Violín obligado, and Cabeza final. His last book published was ¿Hay alguien ahí?, shortly before his death on January 26, 2004.
