En la guerra y en la paz, una mujer sin armas lucha por sus hijas. Como en la vieja agricultura itinerante roza, tumba y quema para que esas niñas tengan un lugar al cual poder regresar.

Ahora, esa mujer debe conseguir dinero para emprender un largo viaje que le brindará la oportunidad de reunirse con la primera de sus cinco hijas, una niña a la que perdió durante el tiempo de la guerra. En su intento por llevarla de regreso consigo, se presentará ante ella como la pequeña independiente y tenaz que fue, la adolescente reclutada contra su voluntad por la guerrilla, la mujer joven que conoció el amor y la traición, la sobreviviente que vio el final del combate y la madre dispuesta a batallar por conseguir, en la paz y en la pobreza, una oportunidad en la vida para sus hijas, sin pedir nada a nadie.

Escrita con la intensidad de un relato corto, Roza tumba quema aborda las dificultades a las que debe enfrentarse una mujer en una sociedad en reconstrucción. Claudia Hernández (San Salvador, July 22, 1975) is a Salvadoran writer known for her literary exploration of violence and gender inequalities in El Salvador. With a degree in Communications and Public Relations from the Technological University of El Salvador, she has dedicated her career to fiction writing and teaching writing.

Her work includes six short story books and three novels, among which stand out Roza, tumba, quema (2017), El verbo J (2018) and Tomar tu mano (2021). This last novel is part of a trilogy that addresses the female experience in the context of post-war Salvadoran, focusing on the figure of the wife as protagonist. The narrative is characterized by its choral structure, where women have no names, reflecting the invisibility and daily suffering they face.

Hernández has been internationally recognized for her literary work. In 2004, she received the Anna Seghers Foundation award from Germany, given to young authors whose work contributes to the development of more just and tolerant societies. In 2007, she was selected for Bogotá 39, an initiative that highlights 39 Latin American writers under the age of 39.

Currently, Claudia Hernández continues to be an influential voice in Latin American literature, offering a critical and profound look at the social and gender realities in her country.
