Guy Gavriel Kay (Weyburn, 1954) is a Canadian writer known for his historical fantasy novels, in which he merges fantastical elements with references to real historical periods. In his youth, he collaborated with Christopher Tolkien on editing The Silmarillion. His narrative style is distinguished by its thematic depth and focus on the complexity of characters and cultures.
Among his most notable works are The Summer Tree (1984), The Wandering Fire (1986), Tigana (1990), and The Lions of Al-Rassan (1995), all within the fantasy genre.
