Suddenly, he comes across a little red bird looking for yellow flowers for his friend the rat (whose favorite color, of course, is yellow). When the bird flies off with flowers in his beak, Samson begins to think. He wonders what it would feel like to have a friend. Soon afterwards, he falls asleep and wakes up in the middle of a white landscape. The long winter has begun! In the snowstorm, Samson meets the red bird and the rat. Both of them, in spite of their small size, decide to befriend the massive mammoth.
