En una calurosa tarde del verano de 1972, tres adolescentes blancos -Alex Pappas y sus amigos Billy Cachoris y Pete Whitten- decidieron conducir hacia un barrio marginal de Washington. Esa incursion supuso que seis vidas se vieran alteradas para siempre. A causa del enfrentamiento con tres chicos negros, Billy resulto muerto y Alex, seriamente herido.
