Michel Nieva (Buenos Aires, 1988) is an Argentine writer, translator, and teacher, known for his innovative approach to science fiction, which he calls "gauchopunk". He studied Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires and is a doctoral researcher and teacher at New York University. His work explores themes such as climate change, technology, and Latin American dystopias

Among his most notable works are the novel Do Gauchoids Dream of Electric Ñandús? (2013), Rise and Zenith of the Argentine Empire (2018), and The Childhood of the World (2023). In the field of essays, he published Technology and Barbarism (2020) and Capitalist Science Fiction: How Billionaires Will Save Us from the End of the World (2024), where he analyzes the connections between science fiction and contemporary capitalism. In 2022, he was awarded the O. Henry Prize for Short Fiction for his story "The Dengue Boy" .
