Manual de referencia sobre técnicas, experiencias e influencias, Terapia gestalt es la obra fundamental sobre el tema, escrita con mano maestra por el sucesor de Fritz Perls. El mundo de la psicoterapia está invadido por caricaturas positivas de la ciencia y deformado por teorizaciones de poca monta. En este panorama, la gestalt es importante por una razón: es una terapia eficaz, funciona. La epifanía central de la gestalt concebida por Perls, y celebrada aquí por Claudio Naranjo, es que la expresión provee al significado su mayor claridad y vivencia. Para que una terapia sea eficaz no precisa de un respaldo histórico ni de la comprensión de los campos de fuerza en el momento de la terapia, sino solo la comprensión del método para ayudar a evolucionar al individuo. Naranjo es una de las pocas voces significativas de la actitud que Perls cristalizó en su último periodo californiano: el enfoque es la actitud del terapeuta, y el terapeuta la encarnación del enfoque. El impacto de la obra de Perls en terapeutas de diversas tendencias ha sido permanente, y su influencia se observa en prácticas ampliamente aceptadas, como la adopción del hic et nunc (aquí y ahora), la aceptación de la irracionalidad en el terapeuta y en el paciente, el derecho del paciente a la libertad de su ser, y su rol como modelo de tal libertad. En este libro Naranjo rescata, destaca y enseña el valor de la autenticidad, la confianza en la experiencia real y en la comunicación sincera, y la fe en el percatarse (awareness) como herramienta y como meta. Tras el posicionamiento y valorización de la gestalt en el sendero de la expansión de la conciencia, aborda sus aspectos transpersonales, poniéndonos en guardia contra el difundido enamoramiento con visiones y éxtasis que muchos creen extraer de ahí, y nos orienta en la caracterología del protoanálisis (eneagrama), mostrándonos un camino para el futuro.

Dr. Claudio Naranjo, renowned Chilean psychiatrist, writer, teacher, and speaker of international fame, is considered a pioneer in his experimental and theoretical work as an integrator of psychotherapy and spiritual traditions. One of the first researchers of psychoactive plants and psychedelic therapy and one of the three successors of Fritz Perls (founder of gestalt therapy) at the Esalen Institute. He later developed the Psychology of Enneatypes from Oscar Ichazo's Protoanalysis and founded the SAT Institute (Seekers After Truth), a school of psycho-spiritual integration. He is considered a pioneer of transpersonal psychology and an integrator between psychotherapy and spirituality

When not writing, he travels around the world, dedicating his life to helping others in their quest for transformation and trying to influence public opinion and authorities on the idea that only a radical transformation of education can change the catastrophic course of history.

Claudio Naranjo received three honorary doctorates (one in education from the University of Udine in Italy, another in humanistic psychology from Concordia University in Mexico, and one from the Gestalt University of Mexico City), for his dedication in the field of education. He was appointed advisor to the global forum for the future of education in Russia, founded the Claudio Naranjo Global University (with the support of the Mexican government) and was nominated as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize.

He created the Claudio Naranjo Foundation (FCN) with the purpose of promoting among Spanish educators an interest in an education that is not only holistic but also inspired by the purpose of transcending the patriarchal mind, and has also begun to convene educators from other countries with the purpose of encouraging them to make their perception of the obsolescence of current programs and especially of the underlying vision regarding the purpose of an education that has so far served little to personal development and even less to social evolution.
