Marco Polo (1254-1324) was a merchant, traveler, and Venetian writer famous for his accounts of his travels to Asia. His most famous work, The Book of the Marvels of the World (circa 1300), also known as The Travels of Marco Polo, documents his experiences at the court of the Mongol emperor Kublai Khan and his explorations through China and other regions of the East.
