Nunca había visto a mi madre tan desesperada. Sus gritos se mezclaban con el llanto, mientras aquellas personas trataban de sacarla de nuestra casa a la fuerza. Se aferró al marco de la puerta y sus uñas dejaron huellas en la madera cuando ti raron de sus brazos sin ningún reparo. Como si en lugar de una persona estuvieran arrastrando una muñeca.  Un hombre la levantó en peso y trató de cargar con ella. Quise detenerlo, pero otro se interpuso en mi camino y me empujó contra la pared. Hae In evitó que cayera al suelo. Me rodeó los hombros con su brazo y me mantuvo pegado a su cuerpo. -No mires-me dijo. Hae In era mayor que yo, ya tenía doce años y yo, solo ocho, por esa razón siempre debía hacer lo que me pedía. Los hermanos pequeños obedecen a los mayores. Cerré los ojos y apreté los párpados con mucha fuerza, como si así también pudieran desaparecer los sonidos.
