"Il 'Solfeix' è basato sulla traslitterazione sillabica di una melodia prestabilita; ma, invece di attribuire un significato chiuso ad ogni serie di note - come faceva Soudre - o di mettere ogni nota in relazione ad una sillaba - come fanno i parolieri nelle canzoni -, si tratta di aggiungere un fascio di nuove sillabe tra i nomi delle note della melodia, avendo ben presente la durata di ogni nota. Il 'Solfeix' è, quindi, una costrizione aperta alla speculazione letteraria".
