Es reconocido por su habilidad para crear libros pop-up que combinan arte, diseño y narrativa, tanto para niños como para adultos. Su serie Bugs ha vendido más de seis millones de copias en Estados Unidos y ha sido aclamada por su innovación en el diseño de libros tridimensionales. Además, obras como 600 Black Spots (2007) y White Noise (2008) fueron seleccionadas para el premio New York Times 10 Best Illustrated Children’s Book Award.
