Juan Arnau (Valencia, April 28, 1968) is a Spanish philosopher and essayist specialized in Eastern philosophies and religions. After working as a sailor and traveling through Africa, he studied Astrophysics at the Complutense University of Madrid, graduating in 1994. In 1995, he moved to India with a scholarship from the AECI and studied at the Hindu University of Benares under the guidance of the Sanskrit specialist Óscar Pujol. Later, he obtained his doctorate at El Colegio de México, where he delved into the study of Sanskrit with Rashik Vihari Joshi. He has been a researcher at the López Piñero Institute of History of Medicine and Science (CSIC-University of Valencia) and an associate professor at the University of Barcelona. In 2014, he received the XXXIV Valencian Literary Criticism Award for Manual de filosofía portátil.
