Camilo Beltrán
Chilean journalist and thriller writer. His early interest in crime novels led him to admire major authors in this genre, such as Paula Hawkins, Fiona Barton, John Grisham, Roberto Bolaño, and the acclaimed Swiss novelist Joel Dicker, whom Beltrán declares his main influence.

“The Crimes of Santa Monica” (Trayecto, 2024) was his first novel and captivated readers by presenting a non-linear narrative of a crime investigation, in the context of a highly dangerous city that mixes corruption, violence, and narco culture. His main narrative feature is the way he seduces the reader with the intentions of his characters, providing clues and traces that allow solving the mystery at the end of the story.

During 2024, his novel was chosen by three reading clubs in the country as the novel of the month, in addition to participating in the Santiago International Book Fair and La Furia del Libro. Moreover, his work was a contestant for the Alfaguara Novel Prize 2025 in Spain.

He is currently working on the production of his second novel, a suspense thriller based on the mysterious disappearance of a child in the Cajón del Maipo, where lies and deceit will make the reader doubt even their own perception of the facts.
