Frantz Fanon
Frantz Fanon (1925-1961) was born in Fort-de-France, Martinique. He studied medicine in France, becoming the director of the psychiatric hospital in Blida-Joinville (Algeria) in 1953 where he closely collaborated with the Algerian National Liberation Front. Expelled from Algeria in 1957, he settled in Tunisia to work with the Provisional Government of the Algerian Revolution, being appointed ambassador to Ghana in 1960. Among his books are L'an V de la révolution algérienne (1959), Les damnés de la terre (1961) and Pour la révolution africaine (1964).
