Julia Bartz

Julia Bartz is an American writer and therapist based in Brooklyn. Her literary debut, The Writing Retreat (A Deadly Retreat for Writers, 2023), became an immediate success, reaching New York Times bestseller status and receiving praise from critics like Kirkus and Booklist. In addition to her work as a novelist, Bartz has published stories in magazines such as South Dakota Review and InDigest Magazine, and works as a creative coach, combining her clinical experience with writing.

Her most recent novel, The Last Session, is scheduled for publication in April 2025. This psychological thriller follows a social worker who confronts her past when a catatonic patient mysteriously disappears, leading her to a conversion retreat in New Mexico.
