Santa Montefiore
British writer, Santa Montefiore grew up on a farm in Hampshire and attended Sherborne School for Girls. From a young age, she dreamed of becoming a writer, which led her to earn a degree in Spanish and Italian Language from the University of Exeter. She converted to Judaism in 1998 and married a historian, from whom she took her surname, Montefiore.
She spent the 1990s in Buenos Aires, where her curiosity about the South American country was awakened, which has notably nourished her work. She published her first novel in 2001 and has since released various titles, with her biggest successes being Under the Ombu Tree, The Butterfly Box, The Swallow and the Hummingbird, and The Last Voyage of Valentina.
Montefiore's production is highlighted by the Deverill Chronicles series, consisting of Songs of Love and War, Daughters of Castle Deverill, The Last Secret of the Deverills, and Time of Secrets at Deverill.
