Synopsis "21 Nursery Rhymes: Techni-Arrangements for Piano"

Late Beginner to Early Intermediate piano students are sure to derive much pleasure from playing this delightful book of 21 Nursery Rhymes Techni-Arrangements for Piano (35 pages). Each piece is beautifully illustrated in colour. Nursery rhymes have been musical favourites for generations and their rhythms and melodies are familiar to many. Why Nursery Rhymes? The developing pianist has many challenges. Rhythm is a challenge which can persist for years. However, with Nursery Rhymes the melodies, rhythmic patterns and words are so well known that concentration can then be placed on the development of other specific aspects of piano technique. It is particularly with this in mind that I have written these 21 Nursery Rhymes Techni-Arrangements for Piano. Woven into the texture of the melodies are various technical concepts, e.g. scalic, arpeggio and chromatic passages, parallel chords and clusters, wide leaps, hand crossings, staccato passages and areas where both hands play in the same clef simultaneously. In addition there are ornaments, interesting rhythms, Alberti bass, a glissando on black keys and the use of a wider range between both hands. All of these elements assist in mastering the geography of the keyboard. In a few pieces the mode, rhythm or traditional words have been altered to suit my purpose, from the point of view of accommodating a specific piano technique. Some of these technical concepts may not generally be introduced this early in piano tuition, but they are guaranteed to add spice, enthusiasm and enjoyment to the learning experience of any Late Beginner or Early Intermediate pianist. Beautiful colour illustrations throughout 21 Nursery Rhymes Techni-Arrangements for Piano are crafted to hold the piano student enthralled. These, together with other clever teaching strategies, make the mastering of piano technique both very interesting and memorable.
