Synopsis "Aus dem Leben Eines Transplantmediziners (in German)"

Prof. Martin Burdelski begann seine Ausbildung zum Kinderarzt in Hannover. Als einer der ersten Kinderärzte in Deutschland wurde er in der gastrointestinalen Endoskopie und der Laparoskopie bei den Erwachsenen-Gastroenterologen ausgebildet. Bis zu seinem Ausscheiden aus der aktiven Pädiatrie hat er mehr als 5000 Endoskopien bei Kindern durchgeführt. 1978 wurde im Hannoveraner Team die erste Kinder-Lebertransplantation in Deutschland vorgenommen. Im Laufe der Zeit hat Prof. Burdelski fast 1000 Kinder-Lebertransplantationen in Hannover, Hamburg, Kiel und Riad als Verantwortlicher betreut. Kollegen in Ungarn, Bulgarien und Saudi-Arabien wurden in der pädiatrischen Lebertransplantationsmedizin ausgebildet. Sein wissenschaftliches Werk umfasst mehr als 180 Publikationen, Buchartikel und Bücher. An Auszeichnungen wurden ihm 2006 der Helmut Werner-Preis von "Kinderhilfe Organtransplantation" (KiO) und 2012 der "Distinguished Service Award" der Europäischen Gesellschaft für Gastroenterologie, Hepatologie und Ernährung (ESPGHAN) verliehen.
