Frank Quitely es el seudónimo del dibujante escocés Vincent Patrick Deighan, nacido en 1968 en Rutherglen. Desde niño cultivó una profunda pasión por el arte y las ilustraciones, lo que lo llevó a estudiar dibujo y pintura en la Escuela de Arte de Glasgow. Tras graduarse, realizó trabajos diversos —murales, retratos, carteles— hasta que una invitación para escribir y dibujar para un cómic local desencadenó su amor por la historieta.

Adoptó el nombre artístico Frank Quitely (un juego de palabras con "quite frankly") porque prefería mantener su trabajo en el cómic alejado de su entorno familiar.
