Synopsis "Beyond the Gate: A Texas Ranch Quilt in Six (BOM) Applique Blocks"

Texas ranch life was the inspiration for this delightful quilt, with a windmill, birdhouse, tulips and ladybugs. Author Margaret Bucklew, known for her Step-By-Step Portrait Art Quilts, has combined her love of applique with scenes from her home on the ranch into a quilt that will put a smile on everyone's face. Beyond the Gate is a gorgeous 92" x 109" quilt made of six units, organized in monthly blocks. At the end of six months, you will have a lovely garden inspired quilt top. Layer with batting and backing to complete your quilt. This book is a pattern book only designed for applique enthusiasts who have applique experience and wish to use their favorite techniques. Most applique lovers have a preferred technique, and this intermediate level book (not a how-to applique book) allows *you* to use your favorite method for construction. The patterns were designed for fusible web applique, but add a quarter-inch to each cut and you can make it with needle-turn or any other favorite method. If you prefer, several of the blocks may be re-arranged into smaller quilts, giving this pattern book a lot of versatility. Each of the six block units includes the fascinating story behind that block. Also included are fabric requirements and colorway suggestions, full size templates with registration marks to ensure accuracy, and a positioning guide. The final chapter has instructions for combining the blocks into a completed quilt. Allowing the quilter to envision her own colorway, the book is in black and white. The patterns have been well tested and the author maintains a website for publishing photos of finished quilts. Find your inspiration for colors and fabrics on her website, or blogs!
