Ernst Hans Josef Gombrich (Vienna, 1909-London, 2001), Austrian-British art historian, achieved global fame with The Story of Art –translated into more than 20 languages and an educational reference for decades–. Of Jewish origin, he left Vienna in 1936 due to the rise of Nazism and settled in England, where he developed an exceptional academic career: director of the Warburg Institute (1959-1976) and professor at Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard

After his retirement in 1976, he published fundamental essays and consolidated his influence as a theorist, combining intellectual rigor with an accessible style that revolutionized artistic dissemination.
