Ernst Hans Josef Gombrich (Vienna, 1909-London, 2001), Austrian-British art historian, achieved global fame with The Story of Art –translated into more than 20 languages and an educational reference for decades–. Of Jewish origin, he left Vienna in 1936 due to the rise of Nazism and settled in England, where he developed an exceptional academic career: director of the Warburg Institute (1959-1976) and professor at Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard

His legacy includes titles such as The Art and its History (20 million copies) and recognitions like the title of Sir (1972), British Order of Merit, and the Goethe Prize (1994). After his retirement in 1976, he published fundamental essays and consolidated his influence as a theorist, combining intellectual rigor with an accessible style that revolutionized artistic dissemination.
