When Polly's stagecoach is held up on the tall grass prairie by Alex's gang, she inadvertently leads the outlaw, Ed Schmidt, to Byrd Ranch and puts everyone in danger. Ed turns out to be the key to finding Alex John's gang. Underneath Polly Stearns gentleness and good looks, no one suspects what a tough, capable woman she is. Polly stops at nothing to protect her son. She's the epitome of the old saying, "Don't Get Between a Heffer and Her Calf!"
