Synopsis "Cosmic Calamities"

Cosmic Calamities contains three short works of fiction. In "The Solar Flare," the sun becomes hyperactive and tans the Earth with a powerful solar flare. Two young scientists warn the inhabitants of Earth that all electrical installations must be switched off for three days to prevent a global calamity. Criminal syndicates see an opportunity to hack computer systems and bank accounts during the aftermath of the outage. In "The Ice Age," chaos ensues when average temperatures on Earth drop by as much as ten degrees. As two young scientists warn that the Earth is entering a new ice age, they must simultaneously protect their families from the murderous attacks of two criminal syndicates. In "The Psychopath," a discredited former politician plans a revolution and a coup d'etat in South Africa with a program of wide-scale destruction and sabotage. A young scientist locates his secret hideout, and a young neuropsychologist convinces the court after his arrest that she has diagnosed him as a dangerous and deranged psychopath and narcissist who must be removed from society. Cosmic Calamities is a sequel to Cosmic Catastrophes by the same author.
