Cancer is one of the most important causes of morbidity and the magnitude of the problem is gigantic. Its burden on the economy for providing health care will be substantial. The study is unique in its examination of cost incurred, source of finance, awareness and enrolment of health insurance schemes among the poor cancer patients in the government hospital of Coimbatore city, Tamil Nadu.
