Synopsis "Designing of a PV/Wind/Diesel Hybrid Energy System: By the aid of the Micro-grid Modelling Software HOMER Pro of NREL"

This is an original study, where I designed an Energy Power System combining 2 Renewable Energy Sources (Sun and Wind) with a stand-by Diesel engine to electrify a small living compound in a remote location in Sudan (Africa). In this design the initial system cost was 31,250 $ which considered a small fraction from the cost of erecting the HV transmission lines which according to Sudanese Ministry of Energy and Mining might cost 30,000 $ for each 1 Km, while some rural communities in remote areas can be a hundreds kilometers away from the national grid. The huge cost of building a distribution substation should be also considered. I hope it will be beneficial for researchers and students and a quick reference in its field.
