Im Verlauf seines fast 100-jährigen Lebens durchlebte er im Krieg als Soldat, aber auch danach im Zivilleben, u.a.auf seiner Einhand-Weltumseglung viele lebensbedrohliche Situationen, die ihn letztlich in eine pathologisch schwierige Situation brachten. Die vorliegenden Aufzeichnungen waren ein Teil der Therapie, um die schweren Depressionen zu heilen.
