Tomoko Kojima greift in ihrer interdisziplinär, auch international vergleichend angelegten Studie die kontroversen Auffassungen und Ordnungsschemata öffentlich institutionalisierter Erziehung entlang ihres Strukturwandels auf. Mit einer historischen Rekonstruktion systematisiert die Studie das Verhältnis zwischen Struktur und Semantik der Öffentlichkeit und eröffnet dabei einen neuen Zugang zu dem Bezugsproblem der öffentlich verantworteten Erziehung, der sich von antagonistischen Positionen unabhängig macht.
