Synopsis "El Corazon de las Tinieblas y Otros Cuentos (in Spanish)"

Joseph Conrad nació el 3 de diciembre en Berdichev, Polonia; vivió su niñez en Rusia y Cracovia. A los dieciséis años tuvo su primer encuentro con el mar y un año después se desplazó a Marsella con el fin de conseguir trabajo en algún barco mercante. Llegó a Inglaterra en 1878 y obtuvo la ciudadanía británica en 1885. Su dedicación a la marina como oficial y capitán fue paralela con la elaboración de sus primeras obras. En 1894 dio por terminada su vida como marinero y se dedicó por completo a la escritura. Escribió novelas, relatos y libros de memorias. En abril de 1924 rechazó la oferta del primer ministro MacDonald de hacerle caballero; murió el 3 de agosto de ese mismo año en Bishopsbourne, Inglaterra.

Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) was a Polish-British writer known for his tales about the sea, colonialism, and the psychological struggles of individuals facing adversity. His work is characterized by the exploration of themes such as morality, despair, and the absurdity of human existence. Born in Ukraine, Conrad spent much of his life as a sailor before turning to writing, which significantly influenced his narrative style.

Among his most notable works are Heart of Darkness (1899), Lord Jim (1900), and Nostromo (1904). Although he did not receive major awards during his lifetime, his influence on 20th-century literature is undeniable, being considered a precursor of modern narrative.
