Emmy van Deurzen, born on December 13, 1951 in The Hague, Netherlands, is an internationally renowned philosopher, psychologist, and existential therapist. Her therapeutic approach is based on existential phenomenology, and she has been working in the mental health field since 1973. Throughout her career, she has founded institutions such as the Society for Existential Analysis and the New School for Psychotherapy and Counselling in the UK.

Her publications have been translated into more than 30 languages, reflecting her global influence in the field of existential psychotherapy.
