English summary: On 19 October 2011 the Leipzig church historian Helmar Junghans (2010) would have celebrated his eightieth birthday. To commemorate this occasion, an academic symposium was held on Reformation Day 2011 in Leipzig in honor of the life achievement of the Reformation historian and Luther scholar and to recall his extraordinary biography. This volume documents the papers presented on 31 October 2011, complemented by texts on Junghans' life history, which was shaped by imprisonment and discrimination during the GDR. The volume has two objectives: It wishes to contribute a building block for a history of recent church historical research in Germany and to honor an extraordinary scholar and avowed Protestant Christian. German description: Am 19. Oktober 2011 ware der Leipziger Kirchenhistoriker Helmar Junghans 80 Jahre alt geworden. Aus diesem Anlass fand am Reformationstag 2011 in Leipzig ein Akademisches Gedenken statt, das die Lebensleistung des Reformationshistorikers und Lutherforschers wurdigen und seine aussergewohnliche Biographie in Erinnerung rufen wollte. Der vorliegende Band dokumentiert die Vortrage vom 31. Oktober 2011 und erganzt sie durch Texte, in denen die durch Gefangnis und Benachteiligung in der DDR gepragte Lebensgeschichte des 2010 Verstorbenen beleuchtet wird. Der Band verfolgt damit ein doppeltes Ziel: Er will einen Baustein zur Geschichte der jungeren kirchenhistorischen Forschung in Deutschland liefern und zugleich einen aussergewohnlichen Gelehrten und bekennenden evangelischen Christen ehren.
