Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) ist ein neuartiges Bildgebungsverfahren, das es erlaubt, eine dreidimensionale Verteilung von superparamagnetischen Eisenoxidpartikeln in Echtzeit zu visualisieren. Sowohl technische Limitierungen in der Instrumentalisierung als auch Abweichungen von der idealisierten Theorie von MPI führen zu einer verringerten Bildqualität sowie Fehlinterpretationen der Bilddaten. In dem Werk von Dr. Alexander Weber werden die negative Effekte dieser Imperfektionen mittels mathematischer Methoden behandelt. Bei den untersuchten Imperfektionen handelt es sich um die Inhomogenität und Stromabhängigkeit der statischen Magnetfelder, das Rauschen auf der MPI-Systemmatrix, den Einfluss von Partikeln au erhalb des intrinsisch sensitiven Bereichs sowie den Leckeffekt, der bei der Anwendung der diskreten Fouriertransformation auftritt.
