Das schwer zu greifende Thema der informellen Kooperation und Kommunikation und ihrer Rolle in der modernen Projektarbeit ist Gegenstand dieses Buches. Zu Beginn der Studie werden die zentralen Begriffe "Projekt" und "informell" definiert, um ein allgemeines Verständnis dafür zu schaffen. Im Anschluss an daran werden mithilfe konkreter Praxisbeispiele einige Barrieren effizienter Kooperation und Kommunikation genannt und mehrere Modelle vorgestellt, mit denen diese Hemmnisse beseitigt bzw. umgangen werden können. Entgegen der tayloristischen Betrachtungsweise, bei der das Informelle für einen effizienten Kommunikations- und Kooperationsprozess überflüssig ist, wird hier dessen Notwendigkeit hervorgehoben. Diese Studie wird ebenfalls aufzeigen, dass sich das Informelle zwar nicht organisieren lässt, mit Hilfe personalpolitischer und arbeitsorganisatorischer Modelle aber die Möglichkeit zur informellen Kooperation und Kommunikation geschaffen werden kann. Zentrale Bedeutung hierbei haben Vertrauen und Verständnis. Dadurch können Konflikte bereits im Vorfeld erkannt, angesprochen und beseitigt werden, sodass eine gesunde Basis für den Projekterfolg geschaffen werden kann.
