His opponents have long asserted that he was a "communist," and that assertion still stands in certain circles. The author takes this as the starting point to demonstrate how, in fact, Karl Barth's theology motivated the theology and church in the GDR to become a free theology and church under a dictatorship, and helped to create the preconditions necessary for the "peaceful revolution." Dass er ein Theologe von grossem Format war, mussen ihm selbst seine entschiedenen Gegner zubilligen. Aber die uble Nachrede, ein Kommunist gewesen zu sein, halt sich standhaft. Wolf Krotke nimmt diese auch jungst wieder erneuerte Nachrede zum Anlass darzustellen, wie die Theologie Karl Barths Kirche und Theologie in der DDR motiviert hat, freie Kirche und freie Theologie in einer Diktatur zu sein. Er begrundet die Ansicht, dass Karl Barths Theologie zu den geistigen Voraussetzungen der friedlichen Revolution in der DDR gehort. Wolf Krotke, Dr. theol., Jahrgang 1938, studierte Theologie in Leipzig, Naumburg und Berlin. 1958/59 war er politischer Haftling in der DDR. 1967 Promotion mit einer Arbeit uber Karl Barths Lehre vom Nichtigen und von der Sunde, danach Gemeindepfarrer und Studentenpfarrer in Halle/Saale, ab 1973 Dozent am Sprachenkonvikt in Berlin (der freien, nicht staatlichen Theologischen Hochschule der DDR), von 1991 bis zu seiner Pensionierung 2004 lehrte Wolf Krotke als Professor fur systematische Theologie an der Theologischen Fakultat der Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin. Fur seine wissenschaftlichen Leistungen erhielt er zahlreiche Ehrungen. DE
